curiosidades del café 100% arábica

All our coffees are 100% Arabica coffee. But what does this mean?

To understand what Arabica coffee is, we must first know that there are more than 100 different varieties of coffee. However, the most cultivated and in-demand are: Arabica and Robusta coffee.

At Sensorial Coffee Roasters, we are committed to 100% Arabica coffee, as it offers a much wider range of flavors, textures, and bodies. And today, we are telling you about some characteristics and curiosities regarding this coffee.

Arabica coffee is named as such because it comes from the species of coffee tree known as Coffea Arabica, which is grown at altitudes between 900 and 2,000 meters. In contrast, Robusta coffee is grown at altitudes below 900 meters. This characteristic is key to determining the quality of the coffee. Spoiler alert! The higher the altitude, the higher the quality.

On the other hand, 100% Arabica coffee is a coffee for the most demanding palates, as it is characterized by having varied nuances and flavors. You can find flavor notes ranging from chocolate and honey (in our Colombian Coffee) to caramel and nuts (in our Brazilian Coffee), and even floral and fruity notes (Costa Rican Coffee).

You will find it easy to differentiate these two varieties of coffee at a glance. Arabica coffee measures between 8 and 12 mm, whereas Robusta measures between 5 and 8 mm. Furthermore, Arabica beans are more elongated and thin, with a more curved incision.

Finally, Arabica coffee has different benefits for the body. Among them, it has diuretic effects, meaning it increases urine production. It also activates the digestive system and stimulates the metabolism. Additionally, it minimizes the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and prevents cancer. Furthermore, besides fighting chronic and degenerative diseases, coffee helps take care of liver health by preventing and delaying the development of diseases such as cirrhosis and fatty liver. Lastly, the most well-known benefit of all: coffee activates the nervous and neuromuscular systems.

In short, a coffee with great flavor and benefits for your body—what more could we ask for?

Now you know why at Sensorial we are committed to quality coffee; we are committed to 100% Arabica coffee.
