The different types of coffee beans

Los diferentes tipos de granos de café

Welcome to the Sensorial Coffee Roasters blog! This time, we will talk about the different types of coffee beans and how they influence the flavor and aroma of our specialty coffee.

First of all, it is important to mention that there are two main varieties of coffee beans: Arabica and Robusta. The Arabica variety is considered the finest and is grown at high altitudes, which gives it a sweet and smooth flavor, with floral and fruity notes. On the other hand, the Robusta variety is more resistant and is grown at lower altitudes, which gives it a strong and bitter flavor.

Within the Arabica variety, there are several sub-varieties, such as Bourbon, Typica, Caturra, and Gesha, among others. Each of these sub-varieties has unique characteristics that influence the flavor and aroma of the coffee. For example, the Bourbon sub-variety has a sweet and fruity flavor, while the Geisha sub-variety has a floral and citrus flavor. Some of our 100% Arabica coffees:

At Sensorial, we focus on offering a variety of specialty coffee that combines the unique characteristics of different Arabica sub-varieties. We use coffee beans carefully selected from the most renowned regions for coffee production, such as Colombia, Brazil, and Ethiopia. In this way, we can guarantee a high-quality cup of coffee with a distinctive flavor and aroma.

It is important to mention that the roasting process also influences the flavor and aroma of the coffee. At Sensorial Coffee Roasters, we use a medium roast to highlight fruit and floral notes, and a dark roast to highlight chocolate and nut notes.

In conclusion, at Sensorial Coffee Roasters, we are committed to offering a unique specialty coffee experience, using a variety of carefully selected Arabica coffee beans roasted to highlight the distinctive notes of each sub-variety. We hope this information has been useful for understanding a little more about the different types of coffee beans and how they influence the flavor and aroma of our cup of coffee.
